About Ken Burnett
Ken is the vastly experienced communications director of Revolutionise. Also a trustee of the Disasters Emergency Committee, he is a sage, with almost forty years of experience transforming the way causes communicate and how charities, non-profits and NGOs lead their teams.

Ken is well known as writer, communicator, mentor and international inspirational speaker. He is author of several books on donor development and communication, including Relationship Fundraising and The Zen of Fundraising. Chairman of Trustees at ActionAid from 1998 to 2003, Ken began his fundraising career with that charity back in 1977.  He owned and ran agency Burnett Associates for 18 years and founded Revolutionise, then known as Clayton Burnett, with Alan Clayton in 2008.

Founder and managing trustee for SOFII, the Showcase of Fundraising Innovation and Inspiration, Ken also writes articles and books on non fundraising themes including Tiny Essentials of an Effective Volunteer Board and, most recently, a natural history set in France, The Field by the River.

He delivers a moving Address to the Haggis and a stirring Tam O’Shanter.

About Alan Clayton
Alan is the inspirational leader and creative director of Revolutionise. He is also deputy CEO of Depression Alliance and managing partner at the Inch Hotel and Inspiration Centre, Loch Ness, Scotland.

A trained scientist who works in the inspiration and creative business, Alan is a barnstorming force for rapid and dramatic change and growth, with people power at the front of his philosophy, always backed up with evidence and research.

After a career in national charities, he spent ten years running a full service agency then formed Revolutionise, then known as Clayton Burnett, with Ken Burnett in 2008.

Alan has worked with over 320 clients around the world. He specialises in creative insight and strategy, donor insight, emotional communication and motivation. He has won a basket full of awards, and published much original research and theory. Alan’s other area of work is as a trainer, coach and professional speaker.

He has lectured at conferences and events around the world, always in an inspirational, insightful and challenging manner. He is a keen mountaineer and golfer.

Advanced Direct Marketing
Fundraising Wisdom

Direct marketing is a proven and hugely valuable tool for income generation and it’s essential you gain a good understanding of the basics. But, you need to refine your skills to ensure your campaigns have maximum impact with your key supporter groups and lead to increased income. This course will help you review and improve your multi-channel marketing to help you and your team(s) create that much needed uplift both in income and through an improved supporter experience.

About Stephen

Stephen is a conference speaker, trainer and specialist in the detail of communications which drive action.  His passion is mass engagement. He teaches and writes regular columns about it and is a top-rated speaker at conferences throughout the world.

He set up charity marketing agency Target Direct, now Tangible, in the early 90’s building it to a £50m company with 150 staff.  He is now a visiting Professor of Direct Response Fundraising in the Centre for Sustainable Philanthropy at Plymouth University, and he teaches the US, UK and Europe-based Advanced Diploma with Professors Shang and Sargeant.

With creative colleagues, he still produces multi-media fundraising appeals for clients.

Stephen was, for six years, a trustee of the UK Institute of Fundraising where he chaired the Standards Committee and is now on the International board of development charity VSO. He’s a non-exec director of MediaLab.

Stephen has sheep and horses and dogs and chickens.
